In Design Technology students learn to be innovative designers, developers of products and systems (technological outcomes). Students broaden their technological understanding, by exploration of a broad range of technologies and contexts. This is achieved by working through a variety of processes and projects, during both year groups. All projects expand students knowledge of the manipulation of different types of material to produce one product and developed their awareness of the design processes, through creative design, working models, prototypes and final outcomes. Over the two year groups of ‘Design Technology’, the 3 strands of the new curriculum are integrated in some aspect.
The 3 strands are :–
